MODÈLE YACHT CLUB DE PARIS
Mathieu's Red Atao is 1/15 scale, built almost with recycled materials, with the exception of the plating. The screws come from old mechanisms that he dismantles. The deck is in northern pine and the rest, roof, locker superstructures, etc. are in oak and chestnut.
His method is to go every week to Emmaus and other flea markets, collect items, fabrics for sails, old engines, furniture uprights, old meccano type toys, etc., to take them apart and put them away for model making. He also searches in his entourage who sometimes throws things like old food nets, gauzes etc. which make excellent fishing gear.
For fishing equipment, he has the chance to meet fellow fishermen on the Atlantic coast and northern Brittany who document him on fishing techniques and give him access to their equipment to take surveys.
