AN OLD DREAM COME TRUEIn June, the MYCParis was a partner of a very special day on the Tuileries Basin in Paris : the Regatta Day of the Centre de Ressources Central Paris Sciences. This basin is dear to our hearts because it is the historical basin of the club, the place where the very first model boats competitions started at the end of the 19th century. On that day, more than 500 children from the Recreation Centers of Paris had come in order to run races on the basin with the boats they had created. There were 2 categories: sailing boats, and motor boats. The MYCParis was invited by the organisers in order to navigate on the basin while the children were waiting for the beginning of the races, and to tell them as much as we could about model making. We were delighted to see that a great many of them were really interested in our boats, and asked very relevant questions. Then came their turn… They were incredibly enthusiastic , and their howls were much louder than the noise of the traffic around !It had been a long time since boats had sailed on this prestigious basin ! That day reminded chidhood memories to some of us, and the sight of these children interested in model boats making has given us all hope for the future.
